Ultra-motion cameras
Ultra-motion cameras are a relatively new technology. They can capture high-speed video in an uncompressed format. Several manufacturers offer cameras that can achieve more than ten times the speed of conventional live cameras. In addition, some cameras also offer a slow-motion replay. This new technology can be used to augment a traditional live camera's role by allowing it to capture fast-moving events, like a live match.
There are currently four ultra-motion camera systems available in Europe: ARRI Media's Hi-Motion camera, DVS' Superloupe camera, i-movix's SprintCam camera, and LMC's Antelope system. We asked each of the companies about their cameras and the technical background of their systems.
Control room
A control room for a live match consists of a variety of technical and logistical facilities. The equipment installed here includes cameras and audio and video equipment. The control room is equipped with a director who controls the game from the stadium. Sound checks are also performed at the same time. The crew works 12 hours a day and is only out of the control room halfway through the match.
Clicking on an event in the Control Room will display a page with details about the event and a preview player. The Monitoring tab provides additional information about the event.
